"Quality is not an act, it is a habit." – Aristotle

Procedures have to be established and all activity documented.

Within highly-engineered and/or highly-regulated supply chains, meticulous supplier quality systems are essential. Procedures have to be established and all activity well-documented.

At Allocation, we “cut our teeth” within the automotive sector, where many of the early QMS standards were established. Working in conjunction with our customers, we established the leading QMS software solution that is integrated into the whole part lifecycle for supply chain, from design through production.

ASTRAS ensures:

  • That ALL necessary information, whether structured (from PLM/ERP systems) or unstructured (from internal or external users), is captured and able to be utilized throughout the supplier quality process;
  • That customers can easily configure existing supplier quality programs, and even quickly establish new programs;
  • Requalification is never overlooked;
  • That deadlines and milestones are managed towards; and,
  • All activity is tracked and auditable.

Since ASTRAS’ QMS capabilities are built on a foundation of supplier management, part/material management and collaboration almost anything is possible to manage, whether in whole, or by subprocess.

  • Advanced product quality planning (APQP)
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR)
  • Long Term Supplier Declarations
  • First Article Inspection (FAI)
  • Non-conformance (4D, 8D + 5P)
  • Tool Tracking
  • Deviation Requests
  • Supplier Time Schedules
  • Certificates of Conformance
  • Factory Audit
  • Design Change

Take one example, the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), our customers start with:

  • Automotive and Aerospace PPAP templates
  • Short-form PPAP templates
  • Preconfigured workflows (internal and external stakeholders)
  • Document versioning
  • PPAP milestone and due dates tracking
  • Reminders/escalation
  • PPAP-specific scorecards and dashboards
  • Digital reviews and sign-offs
  • Complete configurability to your PPAP needs

What is your favorite feature of ASTRAS’ Supplier Quality functionality and why?

“I, personally, like the flexibility of the activity workflows which provide specific roles, actions and milestones allowing the SQEs to complete adaptability for their specific needs, while enabling them to roll-out supplier quality to the whole organization. In place of only Supplier Quality submitting a complaint, everyone in the company can now help trigger corrective actions online. The trainee in the goods receiving area noticing a typo on the product labels? Check. The person at the assembly line trying to fit a delivered part somewhere, but it has the wrong dimensions? Check. The assistant in the QA lab noticing a squeaky noise for an assembled part before sending it out? Check. All of them will be able to start an activity in ASTRAS, just by punching in the number that’s on the product’s label, automatically getting the matching supplier, describing the issue and sending it off to the quality department. Customers can catch many more issues globally and solve issues before another location starts the same process with the same supplier.”

Tell us about any interesting uses of ASTRAS’ Supplier Quality capabilities.

“I am particularly excited about a new customer of Allocation’s, who has aligned the entire part lifecycle for supply chain under one umbrella. They have integrated Procurement, Supplier Quality and Supply Chain. Together, we defined their procurement and quality processes from scratch, and all processes are contained within ASTRAS - across a range of needs, whether sourcing, time schedules, APQP, PPAP, PFF or other.”
